The Wonambi Fossil Centre helps make sense of Naracoorte Caves before or after you go underground. Its displays explain how the caves became pitfall traps, dens, and roosts, preserving a huge record of Australian animals over more than 500,000 years.
It is especially useful with children, but adults get the point too: the caves are not just pretty limestone chambers, they are one of Australia's great fossil archives.
