Robe's Customs House was built in 1863, when the town was one of South Australia's busy working ports. It now operates as a small maritime museum, with the building itself doing much of the storytelling: limestone walls, red-brick trim, and a position facing the old harbour.
The museum is modest, but it gives useful context for the wool trade, coastal shipping, and the thousands of Chinese travellers who landed at Robe on their way to the Victorian goldfields.
