Mount Wudinna is the headline natural sight near town, a huge granite rise set among paddocks about 10 km off the highway. The walk is short and exposed, with interpretive signs explaining the rock, water, plants, and local history.
The best time is early or late in the day, when the granite is cooler and the low light gives the surrounding wheat country some depth. Bring water and avoid hot afternoons; there is very little shade once you are on the rock.
