The Bicheno Blowhole is a simple but satisfying east-coast stop: waves push into a sea cave under the granite shelf and burst upward through a hole in the rock. The force changes with swell and tide, so it can be playful one minute and startling the next.
The surrounding granite is part of the pleasure, with orange lichen, sea spray, and views along the coast. Keep back from wet rock and never turn your back on the water when the sea is rough.
