Pulpit Rock Lookout

Short-drive lookout over New Norfolk, farmland, and a wide bend in the Derwent River.

Pulpit Rock Lookout sits above the northern side of the Derwent and gives the clearest view of why New Norfolk is prettier than it first appears from the highway. The river bends below, the town sits among trees, and the hills close in behind the valley.

The road up is narrow and partly unsealed, but the lookout is only a short walk from the car park. It is a quick stop, not a full outing, and is especially good in autumn when the valley turns gold.
