St Matthew's is a modest but important piece of early Tasmania. The church dates from the 1820s and stands near the centre of town, where New Norfolk's older streets still keep their colonial scale.
It is best seen as part of a slow wander rather than as a single destination. Pair it with the nearby old cottages, cemeteries, and antique shops, then continue toward Willow Court for the darker half of the town's history.
