A Sunday market held in the Penguin Sports and Recreation Centre on Ironcliffe Road from October through April. About 100 stalls under one roof — local cheeses, smoked salmon, jams, sourdough, vegetables from the nearby Don and Mersey valleys, secondhand books, woollen goods, and the inevitable selection of bric-a-brac.
It's busy, runs from around 9 to 2, and draws shoppers from across the northwest coast. Easy parking nearby; arrive early if you want a quiet wander rather than a shuffle through the crowd. Closed during the winter months.
