The Lake View House is a serious restaurant in a restored 1880s villa on the eastern shore of Lake Wendouree, with bay-window dining rooms looking across the water to the botanical gardens. The cooking is contemporary Australian — Western District lamb, Macedon free-range duck, the kind of long-aged Victorian beef the region produces. Wine list strongly Victorian.
Booking essential at weekends. The Sunday breakfast through to mid-afternoon is one of the best in regional Victoria.
