Little Malop is the pedestrianised laneway that runs east-west through the middle of central Geelong, behind Westfield and past the Geelong Gallery. It has become the city's most concentrated cafe and small-bar strip — the result of council investment in the early 2010s that turned a tired service lane into a public space with bluestone paving and outdoor seating.
By day the cafes draw an office crowd; by evening the bars and laneway restaurants take over. The Geelong Gallery and Geelong Library both open directly onto the street, anchoring its civic end.
