Mallacoota is reached from the Princes Highway by the C617, which runs south through bushland into town. The turn-off is east of Cann River and west of the New South Wales border. The road is sealed but winding, and there are no towns on the final stretch.
Public transport is limited, so most travellers come by car. Merimbula, across the border in New South Wales, is the nearest regular regional airport.
