Nemesis occupies a corner site on Russell Street, across from the Magistrates Court, with a dark, moody interior that suits its name. The fitout leans toward exposed brick, dark timber, and low lighting — a contrast to the brighter bar styles that have spread through the CBD. It opens late and draws a mixed crowd of after-work drinkers, people starting their night, and regulars who have been coming for years.
The cocktail list is well thought out and the staff know what they are doing. Russell Street itself has changed considerably — the court precinct gives it an interesting mix of lawyers, locals, and late-night drinkers. Nemesis sits comfortably in that mix.
