Tipo 00 is a narrow pasta restaurant on Little Bourke Street that has been consistently praised as the best Italian in the CBD since it opened in 2014. The pasta is made fresh daily and the menu changes with the seasons — a short list of five or six pastas alongside antipasti and a few secondi. The room is small and the tables are close together; it is not where you go for a quiet dinner.
Reservations are taken and are essential. The wine list is thoughtful and leans toward Italian producers with good representation from smaller producers in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. Service is warm and knowledgeable. Lunch is less busy than dinner and a good time to try the tasting menu if you want to cover more ground.
