The Great Alpine Road is part of the Hotham experience, especially outside winter when the drive itself becomes one of Victoria's great mountain routes. Around Hotham it climbs onto exposed ridges with big views and sudden weather.
In winter this road becomes serious. Chain rules apply during the snow season, and conditions can change quickly between Harrietville, Hotham, Dinner Plain, and Omeo.
