Mount Hotham Alpine Resort is the winter reason most people come here. The village sits high among the peaks, so many runs drop away below the road rather than rising above a valley base. That gives Hotham its distinctive top-of-the-mountain feel.
The terrain is strongest for intermediate and advanced skiers, though beginners have dedicated areas too. In winter, plan the drive properly: chains, resort entry, parking, and weather all matter more here than they do in lower Victorian towns.
