Raymond Island Koala Trail

Short island walk where koalas are commonly seen in roadside eucalypts

Raymond Island is Paynesville's best reason to stop. The ferry crossing takes only a few minutes, and foot passengers and cyclists can step straight off into a quiet grid of lanes, eucalypts, and shoreline paths. The signed Koala Trail is short, flat, and easy to follow.

Koalas are not guaranteed, but sightings are common enough that the walk has become the island's calling card. Look up into the forks of the roadside gums, not just along the track. You may also see wallabies and waterbirds around the island edges.
