Loch Ard Gorge

Narrow cliff-backed gorge tied to the Shipwreck Coast's best-known survival story.

Loch Ard Gorge is more intimate than the Twelve Apostles and often more moving. The cliffs fold around a small beach where the surf pushes through a narrow opening, and the wreck story gives the place a human scale.

Use the paths around the gorge rather than stopping at the first view. The cemetery, lookouts, and surrounding formations explain why this coast was so feared by sailors.
