Things to Do

Victoria offers year-round outdoor adventures. In winter, the Victorian Alps deliver the best skiing in southeastern Australia, with resorts at Mt Buller, Mt Hotham, and Falls Creek all within a few hours of Melbourne. Come summer, those same mountains become hiking and mountain biking territory, while the coast calls with surfing, swimming, and whale watching.

The state's national parks are a highlight. The Grampians offer dramatic sandstone ranges and Aboriginal rock art, while Wilson's Promontory has some of Australia's finest coastal bushwalking. Closer to Melbourne, the Dandenong Ranges and Mornington Peninsula provide easy escapes into nature.
