The Yackandandah Creek Trail follows the creek through the valley below the township, winding past old mining sluices, river red gums, and patches of remnant bush. The trail is well-formed and accessible to most walkers; a loop of about four kilometres can be completed in under two hours. Swimming holes in the creek are cool in summer, and the birdlife along the water is good year-round.
The trailhead is near the lower end of High Street. Mountain bike trails branch off the main walking track into the surrounding hills; the area has developed a modest reputation among trail riders from Albury-Wodonga and Wangaratta. The creek is also a popular spot for fossicking — gold was found here during the 1852 rush and small amounts are still occasionally found by patient panners.
