WA Shipwrecks Museum

The WA Shipwrecks Museum is one of Fremantle's strongest museums, housed in the restored 1850s Commissariat building near the waterfront. Its galleries focus on maritime archaeology and the shipwrecks that shaped Western Australia's early European history.

The collection includes relics from Dutch wrecks such as Batavia, Zuytdorp, Zeewijk, and Vergulde Draeck. It complements the Western Australian Maritime Museum on Victoria Quay, but has a more archaeological and early-colonial focus.
