Fremantle eats well. The Cappuccino Strip — Gino's, Bread in Common, La Sosta — is the long-running heart of café culture in Perth; the side streets off South Terrace hold most of the better small restaurants. Bread in Common, on Pakenham Street, is the standout for a long modern Australian dinner.
For seafood, the Fishing Boat Harbour is the obvious choice: Cicerello's and Kailis for fish and chips by the wharf; Bathers Beach House on the sand at Bathers Beach for a more polished plate. Little Creatures Brewery handles beer-and-pizza territory at the eastern end of the harbour. The Norfolk Hotel and the Sail and Anchor offer respectable pub kitchens with notable old buildings attached.
