Afghan Cemetery

The Afghan Cemetery holds the graves of cameleers brought to the Kimberley in the late 19th century to move supplies inland from the port. The graves are simple, large, and oriented west toward Mecca.

It is a small stop, but it adds a human layer to Wyndham's gold-rush and cattle-country history. Without the cameleers and their animals, the early supply routes to the interior would have been much harder.
