The Mandurah Foreshore is the heart of the town: a long landscaped boardwalk along the estuary between the traffic bridge and the marina, lined with cafes, restaurants, ice-cream shops, and a small free water playground. Pelicans hang around the jetty waiting for fishermen to clean their catch.
The foreshore is the venue for most of the city's events through the year, including the spectacular Christmas Lights cruises in December — local owners decorate their canal-front houses, and small boats run a one-hour evening cruise through the canals. The smell of fish and chips and the sound of buskers on a Friday evening capture the town at its best.
