The Mandurah Traffic Bridge spans the narrow channel between the Peel Inlet and the ocean and is one of the city's defining sights. The original timber bridge stood here from 1894 until 1953; the current concrete bridge dates from 1953 and is a classic mid-century Australian road bridge.
The pedestrian walkway on the side is a popular crabbing spot in summer (the blue manna crab season runs from December to April), and the bridge itself becomes a viewing platform for the boats coming in from the ocean. The fish-and-chip shops on the eastern end serve fresh local catch.
