Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse stands at the far southern end of the Margaret River region, beyond Augusta, where the coast turns hard and exposed. The tower is tall, white, and photogenic, but the real attraction is the position: open ocean on two sides, hard wind, and a sense of being at the end of the continent.

Guided tours climb the lighthouse and explain the maritime history of this dangerous corner. Even if you skip the tour, the headland is worth the drive, especially in whale season when migrating whales pass offshore. Combine it with Jewel Cave or Hamelin Bay to make the distance worthwhile.
