Hamelin Bay is a broad, pale beach south of Margaret River, famous for the smooth stingrays that sometimes cruise the shallows near the old jetty remains. The water can be beautifully clear, and the sweep of sand makes it one of the more relaxed beach stops on the southern coast.
The rays are wild animals, not a petting attraction. Watch them from the shallows, do not chase them, and keep clear of their tails. The bay also works as a swimming and picnic stop on the way to Cape Leeuwin or Jewel Cave.
