Tamarua sits on the southern coast of Mangaia, the smallest of the three inhabited villages and the closest to Lake Tiriara. A handful of houses, a church, and a couple of taro patches sloping down to the reef. Walking from Oneroa around to Tamarua via the southern coast road takes a long afternoon and shows you the quieter half of the island.
