The Coral Coast stretches along the southwestern shore of Viti Levu, Fiji's main island. It is the country's most established resort strip, and with good reason — the weather here is the driest and sunniest on the island, the beaches are white sand, and the volcanic hills rising sharply behind the coast make for dramatic scenery.
The reef surfing is spectacular. The Frigates reef break near Waidroka Bay draws serious surfers, and the region is close to the Mamanuca islands where professional surfing events are held. For non-surfers, the coral reefs offer excellent snorkelling and diving.
Fijian village life is on display along the coast, with several communities that welcome visitors for cultural events and kava ceremonies. A short bus ride or rental car trip from Nadi gets you here.
