Opened in 2016, the Guam Museum is the best single introduction to the island's history and Chamorro culture. The permanent collection covers indigenous settlement, four centuries of Spanish colonial rule, the Japanese occupation of 1941–44, and the American liberation — a history more turbulent than many islands three times Guam's size. The building itself is modern and well-designed. Worth at least two hours.
