Once at Bikini Atoll, your live-aboard dive boat is your base of operations and your only means of transport. Dive tenders ferry divers to and from the wreck sites within the lagoon. There are no roads, no vehicles, and no permanent population on the atoll; the land itself is off-limits for unsupervised exploration, partly as a precaution given residual soil contamination.
The main dive sites are spread across the lagoon, which is roughly 30 kilometres from its northern to southern rim. Skippers position the boat centrally and run tenders to whichever wreck is on the day's schedule. Night dives on the Saratoga and the other shallow-pinned wrecks are logistically straightforward from the tender.
