Pakiri Beach is the big-sky option near Leigh: a long run of pale sand north of town, backed by dunes and farmland rather than suburbs. It feels open and exposed in a way Goat Island does not.
Come for a beach walk, surf when conditions suit, or just to see the coast stretch out. It is not as sheltered as Mathesons Bay, so treat swimming conditions with respect.
