Orokawa Bay Track

Coastal walking track from Waihi Beach to a bush-backed bay of pohutukawa and sand.

The Orokawa Bay Track starts at the northern end of Waihi Beach and follows the headlands to Orokawa Bay, a quieter beach backed by native bush and mature pohutukawa. The Department of Conservation gives the walk as 3 kilometres one way, with about 45 minutes each way for steady walkers.

The track is easy to moderate, but access from the beach can be affected by high tide or strong swell. Go with shoes rather than bare feet, and carry water if you plan to continue deeper into the reserve.
