The Waihi Beach Trig is the quick climb above the village, a 3-kilometre return walk with steps, steep sections, and a lookout over the beach, the Coromandel coast, and the Bay of Plenty. It is not a wilderness tramp, but it gives the whole shoreline a shape.
Use it early or late in the day when the light is better and the climb is cooler. The lower track runs through bush, while the upper section is more open after forestry work.
