Okahu Estate Winery

Okahu Estate is New Zealand's northernmost commercial vineyard, sitting just south of Kaitaia. The estate makes well-regarded Syrah, Chambourcin, and a sweet, late-harvest Chardonnay that takes advantage of the long, warm Northland autumn.

The cellar door is open most days for tastings and the estate's cafe does light lunches — platters of local cheese, smoked fish, and olives. It's a pleasant detour from town if you want a leisurely afternoon.
