The Wairakau Stream Track is a two-hour one-way bush walk from Campbell Road near Totara North to Lane Cove, with stream crossings, native bush, and a good harbour finish. It is one of the simplest ways to turn Whangaroa from a scenic drive into a real day out.
The track can be muddy and stream levels matter after rain. Many walkers arrange a water taxi or boat pickup from Lane Cove rather than retracing the route.
