Russell's bar and cafe scene is small but of high quality. The Duke of Marlborough Hotel on The Strand is the social heart of the village — its veranda over the bay is one of the best spots for a drink in New Zealand. A handful of cafes serve good coffee and breakfast along the waterfront. The pace is unhurried; expect to linger.
