AJ Hackett runs three bungy sites in the Queenstown area. The original Kawarau Bridge jump (43m) lets you watch others leap before you commit. The Nevis Highwire (134m) is the highest in New Zealand and gives you 8.5 seconds of freefall. Book from The Station on the corner of Camp and Shotover Streets, which also handles most other adventure activities in town.

A story
The Kawarau Bridge, just outside Queenstown, became the world's first commercial bungy site in 1988 when AJ Hackett leapt from it. Hackett had previously bungy-jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris — uninvited — which got him arrested and made him famous.
