Two main operators run tandem skydives from the Queenstown area, from heights of 9,000, 12,000, and 15,000 feet, with proportional amounts of freefall. The 15,000-foot jump gives roughly 60 seconds of freefall and unobstructed views over the lake, the Remarkables, and Cecil Peak. Weather is the main variable; book early in your trip so a cancellation can be rescheduled.
NZONE operates from a base in Queenstown with bus pickup; Skydive Southern Alpsfly from Glenorchy at the head of the lake. Both are well run and the equipment is current. Allow three hours including transfer.
