Dorothy Falls is a quick waterfall stop near Lake Kaniere, inland from Hokitika. It is not a major expedition: the appeal is how easily you can step out of the car and into damp West Coast forest, with the falls dropping through green shade close by.
It pairs well with a Lake Kaniere loop or a longer drive toward Hokitika Gorge. Bring rain gear even when the forecast looks kind, because this side of the South Island earns its waterfalls honestly.
