'Uoleva

Largely uninhabited Tongan island in Ha'apai, with reef flats, beach fales, and quiet snorkelling.

'Uoleva is a small, largely uninhabited island south of Lifuka in the Ha'apai group, connected by a shallow reef flat you can wade across at low tide. It is one of the most untouched spots in Tonga — no roads, no electricity grid, and no permanent settlement beyond a handful of simple beach fales.

Captain Cook Beach Resort, run by the Kaifoto family, offers basic accommodation directly on the beach. The surrounding reef is in excellent condition, with good snorkelling and a quiet, end-of-the-world feel that Ha'apai's main island lacks.

Getting here is easiest by arranging a boat transfer from Pangai on Lifuka, a short trip across the lagoon.
