Morning Stone is a sandy rock formation near Shishtavec, south-east of Kukës, and is listed as an Albanian natural monument. At sunrise, the first light can form a crown-like glow around the rock, which is where the name comes from.
The site sits at about 1,900 metres above sea level, in open mountain country where horse riding has long been part of local life. It is best treated as a countryside outing from Kukës or Shishtavec rather than a quick roadside stop.
