Zürs

Zürs is the highest of the Arlberg villages at 1,720 metres, and one of the oldest ski resorts in Austria — lifts were installed here in 1937. It is small, exclusive, and entirely a winter creation: a handful of large four- and five-star hotels strung along the road between Lech and the Flexen pass, with little else to do once the lifts have closed.

The skiing from Zürs is excellent: high, snow-sure, with the Madloch above the village offering some of the best off-piste runs in the region. Most visitors come on hotel packages that include lift passes, ski guides, and dinner; the village has no real life independent of its hotels.
