Maria Taferl Sanctuary is a Baroque pilgrimage church on a high terrace north of the Danube. Its twin-towered basilica is the focal point, but the setting is half the reason to come: the village looks over river bends, farms, and the wooded hills around Melk.
For Melk visitors it makes most sense as a short excursion by car or bike rather than a central sight. Pair it with the abbey or a Wachau drive if you want a quieter religious stop and a different angle on the valley.
