The Gothic parish church closes the eastern end of the Stadtplatz. Most of the structure dates from the late 14th and 15th centuries, with a slim spire that gives Wels its skyline punctuation. Inside, the surviving medieval stained glass — fragments rather than full windows — is the main draw for visitors with an eye for it.
Worth a few minutes if you are walking the square anyway. The interior is sober and bright, more parish church than cathedral, which is the right scale for a town of this size.
