Tucked into a small building in the Old City, the Museum of Miniature Books is one of the more unexpected places to spend half an hour in Baku. It houses thousands of pocket-sized and matchbox-sized books — Shakespeare, the Qur'an, Soviet propaganda, fairy tales — many of them readable only with the magnifying glass thoughtfully supplied at each case.
Entrance is free and the staff are passionate. The collection is arranged by country and era and includes some of the smallest books ever printed, including a few less than five millimetres square. It's a peculiar, charming, and entirely free-of-charge stop.
