Ballabur Castle is associated with the ancient Bazz Castle and the resistance of Babek, the Khurramite leader who fought Arab rule. The site is east of Lankaran near Ballabur village, where the remains and landscape are more evocative than polished.
It is best treated as a history-minded side trip from Lankaran rather than a quick city-centre sight.
