Imamzade Mosque

Blue-domed Shia shrine and pilgrimage site

Address Nakhchivan City

The Imamzade Mosque is a Shia shrine in the southern part of Nakhchivan, built around a small mausoleum traditionally said to hold the remains of a descendant of one of the Twelve Imams. The structure has been rebuilt and expanded over time; the current complex includes a blue-tiled dome that is one of the more recognisable silhouettes in the city.

The shrine functions as both a working place of worship and a pilgrimage destination for local Shia Muslims, particularly during Muharram. Visitors should dress modestly and follow the usual etiquette. The interior is decorated with mirror mosaics in the Iranian style and is worth a brief visit alongside the nearby Atabegs' complex.
