The Shahbuz Regional Museum has been operating since 1982, housing more than 3,500 exhibits across six divisions. The collection spans the full history of the district from prehistoric times to the present: archaeological finds from excavations at Bronze Age settlements, coins from the early medieval period, examples of traditional carpet weaving and embroidery, and documentary material on the Soviet and post-Soviet periods.
The craftwork collection is particularly strong. Shahbuz has a tradition of carpet production and decorative metalwork, and the museum holds good examples of both. The building is modest and the labels may not all be in English, but the collection gives a solid grounding in what makes this corner of Nakhchivan distinctive from the rest of Azerbaijan.
