Co-Cathedral of St Stanislaus

The Co-Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin and St Stanislaus is Mogilev's principal Catholic church, a Baroque building from the 18th century. Its six-pillared interior and surviving frescoes make it one of the city's most rewarding architectural stops.

The church also tells a wider story about Mogilev's place between Catholic, Orthodox, Polish-Lithuanian, and Russian worlds. It is best visited quietly, with time to look at the interior rather than treating it as a quick facade photograph.

A story
Mohilev was once the seat of a vast Roman Catholic archdiocese created after the First Partition of Poland. That history gives this cathedral a reach far beyond its modest size.
