Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption

The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption is Pinsk's finest Catholic church, a Baroque building tied to the former Franciscan monastery. The pale exterior is handsome but restrained; the richer experience is inside, where altars, vaults, and the old organ give the church a depth that many restored Belarusian churches lack.

It is still an active place of worship, so visit quietly and avoid service times if you mainly want to look around. The cathedral sits close to the river and pairs naturally with the Jesuit Collegium on a short walk through the centre.

A story
The cathedral's organ is often described as the oldest working pipe organ in Belarus, a rare survival in a region where wars, border changes, and Soviet policy erased many church interiors.
