Maasmechelen Village is one of Belgium's premier outlet shopping destinations, part of the Value Retail network that includes Bicester Village in England and La Vallée Village outside Paris. Around 100 boutiques offer end-of-season and previous-year collections from luxury and premium brands at discounts of up to 60 percent off recommended retail prices. The village is arranged as an open-air pedestrian street lined with white-painted shop units, and the atmosphere is decidedly more pleasant than a conventional outlet mall.
Brands represented include major European fashion houses alongside sportswear, accessories, and homewares. The draw is strong enough that the village operates dedicated shuttle buses from Liège, Hasselt, and Maastricht, and a substantial proportion of visitors are day-trippers from the Netherlands and Germany drawn by the favourable Belgian prices.
